Now it's time to tell you, oh, the impious, about existing of evil
forest trolls who live not only on the North but also in splendid Slav
forests. The Land of Bohemia must be famed by the deeds of black metal
trio TROLLECH and thouse who are not agree may wait for a forest troll
at night who will come and take away your slumberous soul... For
thouse who are jaded by vikings, Scandinavian gods and frost let the
beatufil world of ancient bogemian forests be open! It's the chat with the head of the band, Asura G.G. Ray. Tell us, please, how did this forest capella start? Tell us in short about biography of the group. A couple of words about your albums. Slava lesum!!! The guardians of TROLLECH empire greet all travellers through this world. TROLLECH started in the year 999 like a studio project. In summer of the same year is recorded first and last demotape "Dech pohanskych vetru" (Breath of pagan winds). In the end of year 000 was released our debut album "Ve hvozdech..." (In the woods...) under the wings of czech label ECLIPSE Prod... 2nd album was out 2 years after, it means, in winter 002. This album is titled "Synove lesu" (The sons of forests) released by ECLIPSE Prod. again. Last releases are 7"EP "Tvare stromu" (Faces of trees, January 003) and our new 3rd album (still actual, March 003) "V rachotu hromu" (In the rumble of thunder). The guardians of TROLLECH are: me - Asura Godwar Gorgon's Ray a goblin (strings of thunder, scream), Lord Morbivod a dwarf (strings of ice, scream), Johannes an elf (strings of rain, scream) and Skret Duchmaus ze Stribra (tree stumps). Tell us a bit about conception of the group. What ideas do you want to express by black metal? We play for Mother Nature a true and one god(dess) for all pagans.  For
all beings who live in her arms. For fame of TROLLECH empire. People
forgot their past, lost a sense to feel powers of Mother Nature or to
be part of her. It's written simply. Black metal music contains all
Mother Nature's elements, power, hate, death and life. This kind of
music is our sword to guard and protect our empire against our enemies.
If I'm not mistaken you chose image of forest trolls. Why did you chose it in particular, not something of our Slavonic mythology, for examples wood-goblins? I must say we choose "image" of guardians of TROLLECH empire, guardians of forest beings. We don't differentiate "Slavonic beings", "Celtic beings", "Germanic beings" or other beings. They are all "children" of Mother Nature and they are a part of every mythology or tales of our ancestors. I hope you understand... These beings, about who I'm writing, they are known for Celts. Germans, Vikings, Slavons, Huns, Avars to all tribes of Europe. Czechia is rich by its ancient castles. Did you ever have an idea of bying one and live there like once Mayhem's members did? Yes, I did. I wanted to buy a castle near Pilsen its name is Radyne. This castle is from 13th century. Great!!! But I haven't money enough... As far as I know, the territory of Czechia and Slovakia is full of death metallers and death is very popular there. And what about black metal scene? I think Bohemian black metal scene grows slow. Situation is better then 4 years ago. In Bohemia there are old groups which play more then 5 years (and longer) and keep black metal alive. I must say, czech black metal scene is getting stronger and will attack!!! Did diversion of Czechoslovakia hurt interrelation of two brother-nations or everything is OK? 
This diversification was a political game. The Czechs and the Slovaks
will be always brothers and our interrelation is good. Only stupid
people spoil our "tie"... Have Trollech ever performed abroad? If so, how did public percieve your music? I must say, we have never played abroad. We plan some gigs in Germany or Belgium but it's future... Having listened to your works one can distinguish another sound from scandinavian school. Hmmmmm... That's possible... It was not an intention to sound like old scandinavian bands. We wanted own cold sound, grim and raw... Do you have some contacts with west or east groups? Yes, we have. We are in contact with band from Germany, Austria, Belgium, Slovakia... I know, you want to know names of bands: Vilkates, Ancient Rites, Hrossharsgrani, Negura Bunget, Ethernal Pandemonium... And this is the question I couldn't but ask a man who lives in the place where the best beer in the world is made. What is your attitude to alcohol? Che che che very very positive che che chce: We live in Pilsen, the capital of beer che che che... You have very beautyful forests. In Germany, for example, you need special permission of authorities to have a picnic in a forest. What is the situation with nature in Czechia?  Are forest of free access?
Yes, they are: We have no use of special acces. The forests are free to all without national parks. There is an acces neded. I think the Czechs respect nature... Unfortunately site of the band is only in Czech. Is english version planned? Yes, it is. English version was planned and in this time is finished, fans can visit our webkingdom and open the gates of TROLLECH empire... As correctly translate into English your group name? This name is very old, it's a word of old forest tongue. The wind whispered it in the crowns of trees when I was young, it?s a long time ago... And I saw the gates of TROLLECH open: TROLLECH is name of old ancient empire deep in the forests... What can you say about Russia? Have you ever heard our metal groups? I don't know much about Russia. Sorry. I know the capital is Moscau, president is Putin (now), there is the best Vodka (Stolichnayia) in the world made:-))))))), Russia or better CCCP (USSR) sent out the 1st man in space Vladimir Remek and first animal (dog) Laika. I know about your great Slavonic culture with elemets of Viking culture. I know in ancient times lived there swedish vikings tribes who sailed river "Dneper" (sorry, I don't know english translation of that name) and perhaps more... I have heard some bands: Boney Nem (great joke), Tales of Darknord, Nomads Land (great!!!), Severnyje Vrata (but I don't know if they are from Russia but they are also great!!!), some doom metal bands and that's all... Did you have any problems with authorities about live gigs? No, we didn't... Our live gigs are without problems... Videoclips of Trollech rise deep interest. Troll's head which is bespattered with autumn leaves looks especially beautiful. Did you make your video by yourselves or you were forced to call professional cameramen? Thank you for your compliment... This clip was shooted by our friend Well (a member of Umbrtka band), he isn't profesional cameraman but he has sense for shooting. Me and Lord Morbivod, we prepared screenplay and place, cutting and mix are made at Lord Morbivod's studio through out all night by Morbivod... Group's lyrics are entirely in Czech, that's why unfortunately I couldn't get to know it.  So I have to ask the author: "what are you
singing about? Forests? Trolls?" Main theme are forests and its beings, Mother Nature and her elements and powers (Gods and Goddes), our feelings from our trips. Also we draw from mythology, local tales and fairytales... Which position towards paganism, satanism and other anti-christian ideologies do Trollech occupy? We're closest to paganism or better "pagan spirituality". It means, we try percieve Mother Nature, Forests, beings like our pagan ancestors. They saw them, they lived together with them every day and I'm persuaded our ancestors saw these beings (astral beings living into forests) and they communicated with them. Through the years people lost this sense and forgot what Nature is... What is about your new stuff? Our new stuff (3rd album) was released in March 003 by czech BM label ECLIPSE Prod. Album is titled "V RACHOTU HROMU" (In the rumble of thunder), playing time is about 54 min.(10 songs) and included PC clip. I think, this album is the best we have recorded. We're satisfied. Songs are full of forest moods and atmosphere, full of tree notes, full of rains, storms, thunder, goblins and dwarfs and other beasts and creatures... How can one connect with your releasing label and how can you disks be bought by other methods? You can write letter or send e-mail to label adress or you can visit label website or TROLLECH's webkingdom, there you find all contacts. I wrote contacts bellow this interview. I think the 2nd part of this question is for Martin (chief of ECLIPSE Prod.). I know only that - ECLIPSE Prod. acceptes cash or trade (this offer is for labels). That's all... Sorry... What is the future of Czech scene? what do you think about other metal groups? Which are your favorite? In Bohemia there will be metal played, I'm not afraid about it. Bohemian metal scene is full different bands and new talented bands start to play.  But future is always uncertain: What I think about
other bands is my own opinion, I'm not here to animadvert on them. My
most favourite metal style is pagan black metal or epic or black metal
(for example: Bathory, Ancient Rites, Morrigan, Forefather, Kampfar,
Windir) and this style is played only by ourselfs. But I like Bohemian
bands such as Sorath, Avenger, Agmen, Ingrowing, Mythopoeia (R.I.P)...
Czechia is heir of great culture. Forgotten barbarians and medieval gothic closely connected with this land. What is your opinion about knights tournaments, gothic (I mean music). Yes, you're right. I like very much ancient medieval music. I visit every year festival "Historical weekend" in Pilsen, you can see there fire show, dancing, medieval marketplace, knight tournaments. And also I visit some celtic festivals, castle festivals and historical battles... Trolls differ - cave-dwellers, forest-dwellers. You already apllied to forest and what about caves and ponds? It would be nice new clip! As I have said in answer over: We have also lyrics about these beings about who you asked. Cave-dwellers or pond-dwellers are in the lyrics of all our albums. For example, they are in these songs: "Cesta bahnita vede kroky me" from album Synove lesu, or song "Zatrollene hvozdy" from album Ve hvozdech or from the new album V rachotu hromu the song "Narod ohne, zeleza a pokladu":I know, you don?t know it, because our lyrics are in our mother's tongue: The clip with this theme would be really nice, you're right... And now let's relax. If you were troll, what would you do in the first place? If I were a troll I would kill and eat all the mankind... che che che...
